U2 World Tour – Specialist Flight Cases

When U2 go on a world tour, a lot of equipment goes with them. P&M were asked to make flight cases for their instruments, and for their light and sound systems. We met with the road crew to understand exactly what we were packing and their preferences for the type of cases required – a hinged or removable lid, with or without drawers for accessories, and so on. The ergonomics of each case can make a big aggregate difference when you are setting up a concert from scratch.

When a Hong Kong businessman bought the Titan racing yacht in La Spezia, Italy, he needed a way of getting it home. The boat itself was not too much of a problem, but the mast – worth almost as much as the boat – caused real headaches. This mast was 33 metres long, very light and quite vulnerable.
