Background: Our customer needed to ship 22 wind turbine blades, each 12 metres long, to the United States. The challenges included not only the size of the items but also the logistics of where and how to pack them.
Solution: We carried out a visit to the customer’s premises to undertake a full analysis, and decided to construct the cases at our bespoke workshop but pack the blades at the customer’s location. We designed and constructed substantial timber cases to hold three blades each, duly packed the items, which were subsequently and successfully transported by sea freight across the Atlantic.
