Background: Ripley’s, the global entertainment consortium with over 90 attractions in 10 countries, wanted a full-scale model elephant shipped from Stratford-upon-Avon, England to Miami, USA. The challenges included the fact that it occupied two floors of a museum, that there was a gallery surrounding its top half, and that, although everyone knew that it could be dismantled, no one quite knew how.
Solution: After careful analysis and hiring the requisite cranes and gantries, we covered the museum in protective materials, and took the elephant and its accessories apart, packed its components and shipped them successfully to Miami. Ripley’s has subsequently retained us to pack and ship full-size models of horses, suits of armour, a mummified skull and a tiger’s head. All in a day’s work for P&M!
